Arts & Culture

With such a rich history and beautiful surroundings, it’s no surprise that Guernsey’s arts and literature scene is flourishing. French author and poet Victor Hugo spent 15 years in exile in Guernsey and wrote some of his masterpieces, including completing Les Miserables, from his bedroom in Hauteville House in the quaint backstreets of the island’s capital, St Peter Port. Theatre-goers can enjoy visiting productions at The Princess Royal Centre for Performing Arts, St James Concert Hall or Beau Sejour – the island’s main leisure centre. There is also a vibrant local amateur dramatics scene, with clubs and groups to join.
